Pronominal deficiency: A view from Malagasy

چکیده
Abstract Various proposals have been made in the literature, arguing that bound pronouns are, some sense, deficient. This article tests this hypothesis with Malagasy pronouns, specifically context of Zribi-Hertz and Mbolatianavalona's (1999) claim may be only when they are missing NumP layer DP. Mbolatianavalona show further other syntactic properties also attached to lack NumP. The variety investigated here (Malagasy2), behaves differently from one described by (Malagasy1), these differences lead two conclusions. First, there no syntactically deficient Malagasy2, yet complete may, fact, bound. Second, nevertheless correct accounts for a cluster properties, since none distinctions between describe found Malagasy2. More broadly, we conclude pronominal binding does not require deficiency.
